Sunday Six – “Parker” (again!) 4/26/15

Sunday Six headerKEEP IN MIND: Sunday Six pullouts are by their nature spoilery. So if you don’t want to know, don’t read!

And yes, more from “Parker”. This, though, is a bit experimental. Several beta readers really wanted some of the story from Parker’s perspective. More behind why this is experimental under the fold, since it’s spoilery…

Parker is the Protector in this story, and he spends a good part of the book in dog form. So I was challenged at the 60k word mark (damn you, betas!) to start including his POV in shifted form. That is, from his dog-like perspective. So, this is a bit from a scene early in the story, when Parker first meets Greg:

NewMan smells like coffee, and it is intoxicating. He also moves confidently, crowds up to the MountainMan without fear. They are talking about him, he knows because they look his way every other word. But unlike the TheWrongMan, the evil one (gone? Hiding? Can never be too sure), they are not talking to him. It’s a weird and comforting, that he could be overlooked even if they know he’s there. The SmallDarkWoman gives NewCoffeeMan a paper, printed out, and Parker perks up, remembering that he knows how to read. Or he did? It’s something he knows, anyway, and he tries to piece out the letters but they don’t make sense.
